EOC Week 5: Super Bowl Ad
Who: Little boy dressed as Darth Vader
What: He's trying to use his dark powers to move things
When: During afternoon playtime
Where: A home
Why: To promote the new Volkswagen Passat
The ad begins with a little boy dressed in a Darth Vader costume and he is running around his house during his play time. He signals at the washing machine and jumps with excitement as he is trying to get a response out of it without doing anything. Nothing happens. He then finds his dog and does the same thing but his dog sits there and continues to ignore the child. He goes on to a toy doll and does the same thing, again, and tries to get a response from the toy. Obviously toys don't move on their own so he is at the table, disappointed. He hears his dad come home and he rushes to the driveway to meet him. He signals his dad not to lock his car because he wants to attempt to use his "powers" to do it. To the little boy's surprise his powers worked! But in reality, his dad pressed the buttons inside the house while the little boy signaled his powers.
Throughout the ad there really wasn't anything about a car it was all just the boy. It really is targetting the dads and the moms of the market because seeing a little child in such a way will evoke their emotions and make them think about cars. A good marketing team will make ads that caters to emotions of people because when their emotions are stimulated they then start to feel they need to shop. And after seeing this super bowl ad the parents watching might want to consider the new Passat. The mom and dad in this commercial are very average and they look like they could be your neighbor. This is another tactic of marketers to make it look like you can really go to the dealership and you can afford this car.
EOC Week 7: The Pitch
What do women love more than men?
Heels. For my ad I am choosing to promote Christian Louboutin heels. The famous
red-soled shoes are seen on the red carpet and even on the streets. These shoes are definitely not for everyone
for they are very expensive. But from celebrities to bloggers, everyone wants a
pair of Louboutins. The vibrant color of the shoes really give a play on any
look that you throw on. It can be mixed, matched, and styled in so many
different ways.
In this ad I will be taking a
picture of a woman walking away from the
camera showing off the soles of her shoes. Also pictured will be a guy with a
red lipstick stain. The slogan will be “Your red lipstick won’t be the
only red he’ll remember” and it plays off the fact that he thinks the woman is
really sexy in her Louboutins. And even if there is a red lipstick stain on him
he saw the soles of her shoes and was in awe. The shoes aren’t only for women
but they are also to attract men, of course. Because what’s sexier than a girl
in heels? Nothing.
This ad will set me apart from all the others because it is going to target young and fashionable women the same way Axe targets men. The ad's hidden message will basically be saying that if you're wearing Christian Louboutins, all the guys will be after you and all the guys will remember you when you leave a room because they will see the red soles of your shoes. So it will really take a play on the Axe commercials but targeted for women on a magazine ad.
